Lets get into running!
Want to get into running and improve your health? keep on reading for a great website called couch to 5k and some tips to help with fitness.
2021 has come to an end and usually at this time of the year lots of people start setting goals to become fitter or lose or gain weight. Most people stick to these goals where as others don't but I think every little effort is a good start.
Myself personally, I like to keep fit. I have a routine every week but I will have to admit I find it hard to stick to. I really applaud those who are so dedicated to sicking to a routine all the time.
Fitness and health are a passion of mine though and I like to research and study ways of keeping my health and overall fitness intact. I have certificates in nutrition and fitness and I really enjoy learning about it.

COUCHTO5K | Lets run!
Earlier in the year I started a couch to 5k challenge. I wanted to do this because I hadn't ran in a very long time. The couch to 5k was provided by the NHS. They offer podcasts so you can listen to them whilst doing the running, the podcasts are great and really help you in pacing yourself.
Couch to 5k can also be downloaded via an app to your devices.
You can find couch to 5k by clicking the link below or doing a simple google search:
https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/couch-to-5k-week-by-week/
If you want supoort and want to conncect with people of all ages who are starting the couch to 5k like yourself you can join this website called health unlocked.
https://healthunlocked.com/
https://healthunlocked.com/
It's a great website and is full of people supporting each other. Once you've completed the couch to 5k app you get alot of praise on this website and gain a little badge to your name on the website. You can also get a free certificate to say you completed the challenge, it's a fun way to congratulate yourself and connect with others in your journey of running.
If you want to get into running, improve your health or want to start a new hobby I really recommend giving couch to 5k a go!
Once you've completed the couch to 5k which lasts for nine weeks you can set a bigger task for yourself and start a 10k challenge.
If you did like the couch to 5k challenge you can always repeat it and start it again, it's not a one time thing.
Running for 30 minutes non-stop is a great goal!
Weight, height, calories, BMI, stretching, par-q assessment.
Before starting any fitness you should always know your limits and goals before doing any kind of exercise.
BMI.
You should workout your BMI before working out and you can do this by collecting your height and weight.
A simple formula for collecting this:
Weight in KG divided by height in metres squared.
BMI.
You should workout your BMI before working out and you can do this by collecting your height and weight.
A simple formula for collecting this:
Weight in KG divided by height in metres squared.
An example:
70k ÷ (1.78m x 1.78m)
70 ÷ 3.1684
= 22.09 BMI
Once you've gathered your BMI, you can then check your BMI on a table which will be able to tell if you are the correct weight for your height.
The BMI test is pretty accurate unless your pregnant or you are an elderly person or you have a high percentage of muscle mass.
PAR-Q assessment.
Before doing any kind of fitness you should do a par-q assessment which can be found online, or if you've started working out with a trainer they will usually assess and evaluate you before any fitness commends. If you do answer yes to the questions in the par-q assessment then you would need to make sure you are okay to continue your fitness by getting confirmation from your health professional/GP.
Stretching and warm ups.
Alot of people do stretching and warm ups before doing any kind of exercise or they do it after the exercise to help prevent muscle stiffness. I personally like to do small warm ups before exercising and also stretching after working out.
